About me

I'm a final-year master's student in Software Engineering at the University of Tehran, working with Dr. Azadeh Shakery at the IIS (Intelligent Information Systems) Lab. My current research focuses on integrating Large Language Models and Information Retrieval to develop more interpretable and effective Conversational Recommender Systems. My work is driven by the question of how people express their needs and how systems can effectively listen. I study user intent and personalization through probabilistic and representation-based modeling, exploring ways to embed LLMs in IR/CRS pipelines that reason, retrieve, and recommend without becoming black boxes. I'm also interested in how culture, bias, and fairness shape these systems, and how LLM behavior changes across different contexts.

Outside academia, I've spent the past four years at NeshanMaps working on search and geocoding for 30M+ users. During this time, I led a team, improved CTR from 57% to 64%, and learned what it means to build systems that actually serve people's needs rather than just technical elegance.
